The President noted that this had been the platform that the organisation had been operating on and that it had been very successful.
The President then noted his concerns for the direction that the organisation was apparently heading down, particularly in relation to marketing and that it would suffer serious problems if as he believed the group tried to become a business. He further noted the possibility of a split if we continue in the way that we have in the last few months. He also stated that if the organisation were to change then he would stand down.
The President then called on the meeting to draft a resolution to give some direction to the organisation.
The motion that was proposed, "That we do not continue the Marketing Group as it is not consistent with our Mission statement." Ann Foley - Jan McBain
The meeting debated the motion at length. Matters discussed included:
What was the purpose of the Marketing Group?
What were the aims of the Marketing Group?
What was the Marketing Group trying to do?
That the Marketing Group had deviated from their original purpose.
Was there still place for the Marketing Group? For the
Could / should the Marketing Group be re-focused?
It was noted that all recommendations from the Marketing Group had been minuted and agreed to.
That the original survey document was not necessarily flawed and that it should be reviewed and assessed.
An amendment to the motion was proposed, "That the group resolves that the Marketing Group be disbanded and that the group's energies be focused upon implementing the Mission Statement, " Don Grimes - Maureen Titcumb
The meeting debated the amendment. Matters discussed included:
That the amendment did not acknowledge the hard work done, in good faith, by the members of the Marketing Group.
The proposers of the original motion then withdrew their motion so the amendment became the motion. "That the group resolves that the Marketing Group be disbanded and that the group's energies be focused upon implementing the Mission Statement, " Don Grimes - Maureen Titcumb CARRIED
The motion was then put and the meeting adopted the motion.
The President then requested that the meeting note the hard work done by the Marketing Group and he especially thanked Alanna up for coordinating the group.
The President then called on the meeting and the members to assess the information we have in keeping with the aims and Mission Statement of the organisation.
Victorian Olive Council (VOC)
The President noted the concerns of Sil Garoni as outlined in his issues paper. The Meeting noted that the paper had not been distributed and that only the author, the President and the Secretary had the opportunity to view its contents.
There was vigorous debate regarding the matter.
Issues debated included:
The position of the VOC,
The role of the VOC,
The role of the association's delegate,
The content of the Draft VOC Constitution,
Membership of the VOC,
The importance of the constitution,
Concern over domination by interest groups.
The President noted that the appropriate avenue for members of the association to convey their concerns regarding the VOC was through their delegate. Eb Kunze is our association's delegate.
The meeting agreed that the Draft VOC Constitution could be obtained by contacting the secretary.
The meeting agreed that Sil Garoni's Issues Paper should be distributed to the membership.
